The other day I baked some raisins buns for Angel and suddenly think of fixing her a cute Little Brown Bear Bento. I am not good in drawings so normally I have to do a sketch in advance just to make sure the bear will looks like a bear and not a dog :P It’s really hard to cut those seaweeds using freehand and wondering how those Japanese mommies managed to come out with all the difficult shapes and forms in their super nice looking bentos.
This is definitely Angel’s most favourite bento so far as it’s packed with her favourite homemade raisin bun, her beloved quail eggs (don’t asked me whether it’s a dog or a bear there coz I wish someone could tell me too :P :P) and also packed with all her favourite fruits! I can see that she really enjoyed her bento so much so that she polished everything off until I couldn’t even find a tiny piece of bread crumb inside the box nor on the table. But the funny thing is Angel doesn’t recognized the decorated quail eggs in her bento at first and refuse to eat them until I have to wipe clean one of the quail eggs just to show her it’s actually an egg *laugh* I am glad that she loves this combination of food very much and I am hoping that I will get to pack more of such bread/bun bento apart from the normal rice bento for her. I am really so happy to see her gobble down her food that day (and also have to keep a close eyes on her with those quail eggs) until I forgot to take a picture of her enjoying her bento :P

Hahaha... raisins used as ears for the quail bears... that is just too cute! :-) No wonder Angel polished the bento off... I would too! :-)
This's really a nice bento...u did a good job there. Angel's such a lucky girl :)
THAT MUCH EFFORT....I am glad she loves it!
Very good lah you mummy!
Wah really nice bento set then look yummy...Angel so lucky to have a good + creative mummy...:)
Wow, another nice bento. Caroline, may i know where you get all these bento idea from?
So nice! If you serve this to me, I'll be VERY happy too hehe. You can also cut the quail's eggs into halves after photo-shooting to be on the safe side, so that you don't need to watch over her too closely :-)
Nice bento, Carol. ;) It's really healthy too. *Clap clap*
I need to start my bento 'project' for my boy, seem he is going to school already.. *Sigh*
Caroline, U r super good in bento-ing..whr u purchase all the bento accessories??Think of getting some and can prepare bento set for Ryan too. But I can't find any of them at Sibu here..
Way to go again Caroline.. You definitely are creative.. and hardworking... ;)
Angel must be really happy and looking forward to your bentos. So usually when you did your bento, did you give her once a day, or for her meals the whole day? The bread looks yummy lar...
If you asked me the quail's eggs, the lower one looks like a puppy, the other one looks like papa dog.. kekekeke...
If you ask me to do this, I'll go crazy...
To All, thanks for your kind words dear :) I really appreciate them so much :)
Serene, actually I try to think of a theme for my bento then look for the picture / think of a picture and incorporate that in my bento lo. For example of this bear, I just find a bear picture from Angel’s book then do it on the beard. But for the small details like the eggs, I will follow the picture shown in the cutter packaging or instruction from the cutter. I have a lot of bento books too but hardly follow the decoration there coz they are way too complicated for me *pengsan*
Hweili, thanks for the tips! That’s a good one, next time I will remember to cut the eggs into halves :)
Mery, I normally purchase my bento gadgets online from bentomarket.com. If you want to look locally, go to Daiso or 100 yen shop! I can bought some of my items from the Daiso in Sabah too, I am sure S’wak sure will have :)
Esmeralda, normally I will only do 1 bento per day but not everyday *sure pengsan* Maybe 1 or 2 times bento meal per week just to delight her and I can do my practices at the same time too :)
- hahahaha, I do think that the eggs looks more like a dog!! Actually initially I was planning to do a bear :( :( but I really don’t know what went wrong and turn out more like a dog :(
- the first time I did a bento for Angel, I also almost run crazy and told myself that I am not interested to do bento after all. But as I make it once a week, then I feel that it’s not that bad after all but still, I think I am not that interested to do bento too but just can’t resist to see the happy little face that Angel show me everytime when she sees me doing her a bento …. Tell me how can I stop??
Wa lao, Carol... you're super talented and creative! For me, I really can't think of any interesting picture to be appeal in my cooking. You're GREAT!! Angel is so lucky to have you...
Haha Caroline... if you were as busy as I am, I believe you'll be forced to stop bento-ing.. but I see that there's no such need as your girl enjoys it very much, and so does you making it I believe.. ;)a
Caroline, talking about quail eggs, have you ever tried to fry it? I have tried once and the outcome is just "cute". Coz it is very small in size. Hehe.
Angel likes pineapple too? It is one of my fav fruit.
Serene, Thanks so much Serene for your kind words :) I am not creative as you think la *blush*
Esmeralda, Yes …. That’s what keep me going actually and I think once a week of bento-ing should be ok for me :) So you are very busy still …… I do hope that you still will have your ‘me’ time ya :)
Joanne, fried it?? How to fry quail eggs? You mean like the sunny side up ah?? That must be really tough to do since the egg is so small, kekekeke …. Must try!!!
Yes, I mean like the sunny side up. I used a teaspoon to handle the cooking. Ok wor. Give a try and hope you like it too.
Joanne, oh ... using spoon ah? Ok ok ... thanks a good tip there and I shall try it one day :)
