Homemade Bread / Buns

^ ^ My first bake of Ham & Cheese Buns and our all time favourite Sausage Rolls

These are my first few attempts in bread baking ever and since then, I am crazy about these homemade bread / buns totally! Initially I was thinking to make a mini bite size sausage bun for Angel after looking at those I got from the bakery is either too large to hold or to fit into her tiny mouth while she 'struggle hard' to push the huge buns into her mouth!! I really didn’t anticipate that bread making can be so addicting!! The bread kneading part is really the torturing part (or should I say the most interesting part?) but I guess that doesn’t stop me from bread making either :P I think I really need to go get myself a bread maker soon, or a cake mixer cum bread maker will be even better!!! Errrmmm ……. there is right??

^ ^ Western Style Char Sau Bao (Barbeque Pork Bun)

^ ^ Plain Butter Bun and Raisin Bun

Normally it take around 2 ½ - 3 hours before the bread is freshly out from the oven. I just love the house fill with the aroma of freshly baked bread / buns. Hubby and Angel certainly loves those bread a lot! They are the happiest when they saw me kneading the bread dough again :) But due to my sensitive hands, I will have to stop for 1 week + before I can make another round of bread for my 2 sweet ‘babies’ at home :) But when I look at the happy faces of daddy and Angel while munching on those bread, a house filled with aroma fresh from the oven while i watched my 'hard work' vanished one by one in a day ……. I think that’s my perfect picture of my ordinary yet simple happy family moments, and a place where I call ‘Home’ :)

^ ^ Angel’s Super Mini Size Cocktail Sausage Rolls and Sesame Seed Bun

^ ^ “Come! Come! Aaaaammmmm ~~~~!”
She looks so happy everytime I gave her the mini bun fresh from the oven. It's made to a super-mini toddler bite size to suit her small hands and appetite ^_^

P/S: Sorry ya .... I didn't have time to put up all the recipes as usual as I am pretty busy house moving lately ;) But if you were interested, you can refer here for a Chinese version of the sausage rolls recipe (for the bread dough) I normally used :)

Or can you guys wait till I am back?? :) :) However, I have already put up a link (but in Chinese) for the sausage rolls recipe, take a look ya if anyone of you can find someone to read Chinese.

Cath, your super lovely baking is not enough to make your son happy ah? Hahahahaha ….

Kristie, yes, mini buns are definitely easier for young toddler! Those bun I got from the bakery is quite large to goes into their mouth actually :)

BoeyJoey, thanks :) I didn’t anticipate that my bread turn out quite ok coz my mom always told me it’s very hard to make nice bread :)

Rachel, hahahaha …. I am not talented at all and this is also my first attempt in bread making too! I am sure if I manage to get it right, you can too coz it’s not that difficult actually. FYI, I also have not learn any baking or cooking before leh. I only starts cooking once in awhile after Angel was born and I only starts baking …. Maybe 9 months ago since Angel starts having cakes :)

Wahh Caroline, you're good...your bread/bun look as good as those selling in shops. I've never tried bun making before. Do you knead the dough yourself or use mixer?

Hweili, hahahahaha …. You really reminded me something hor, those baking I made is really kind of like a café, maybe I really need a café break after all :P :P

Mery, ya …. I am thinking to get a bread machine too coz my sensitive hands really cannot stand the kneading :) I am still in Bangkok so I am moving my Bangkok house to another place :)

Cynthia, thanks …. Actually I know you are good in making buns too :) It’s really addicting isn’t it?? Maybe it’s the kneading part coz it really can really our tension just by kneading those dough :P What do you think??? :P :P

Linda, thanks dear ~~ actually I don’t really enjoy baking and cooking that much but when I saw Angel’s face lighten up and hubby is in his good appetite, somehow it keeps me going and trying :)

Mommy To Chumsy, thanks dear :) No …. I have 2 happy customer actually, hehehehe :P

Cath, no … your cake really is super perfect until I even show to hubby telling him that my blog friend is making all these!!!!!
- oh, even food need to be authorized by the school? That’s a new thing to know and I think it’s good as well to ensure not too much desserts in the kid’s meal :)
- I am just moving my house in Bangkok. The KK address I have given you remain unchanged :)

MummyGwen, so you are into cupcakes and muffins :) I can’t make that coz Angel is still quite allergy to butter so I have to move on to bread :)
- I have put up a link for the recipe and try and have a look ya :)
- Yes … Angel is super happy when she sees those buns! She loves bread very much :)

Merryn, actually I bought them from the café, hahahahaha., how I wish :P :P I really love the smell of freshly baked buns in the house, it’s even nicer then the aroma of cake :)

MummyMoon, it’s nice to know that you kids love sausage buns too :) If you can buy it from the bakery then it’s ok coz kneading the bread dough really takes so much energy :)

Suhar40, I have put up a link of the recipe under my blog and go and take a look ya :) You need to click inside the link in that author’s blog in order to get the dough recipe :) I hope you do read Chinese :) Good luck dear :)

Fussy mum, thanks :) Yes …. I knead those bread using my bare hands coz I do not own a bread maker yet *sigh* You really have to try it (there is a link at the bottom of my post) and it not only looks like those in the bakery, it TASTE like those sell in the bakery too, and even nicer when it’s fresh out from the oven :)

Esmeralda, thanks dear …. I am not super mummy la, just a busy body mommy who is always so ‘curious’ on those new recipe and don’t believe it can be done until I have done it myself :P :P Next time I will belanja you and Ashton bbq pork buns ya :) :)

Doreen, you are super duper lazy or super duper busy?? Hahahaha …. Nvm since you have baked so many cakes already, take a break and start all over again :) I think I need to put a stop to it for few weeks too :)

PeiWun, thanks … it does taste similar to those in the bakery :) Want to give it a try?

Carolyn, hahahaha ….. I don’t think I can sell them la coz kneading with my bare hands I can only make lesser then 20 buns per day and feel so tired already :P :P Thanks for you nice complements ya Carolyn :)

Hahahaha .... can really see that she really really loves those buns so much!!

Sarah's Daddy and Mommy said...

I think I really have to find time in baking as now Sarah goes to bed pretty late.

MommyAngel said...

Joanne, you are so right!! So now Sarah also a late sleeper ya? Normally I would asked hubby to watch Angel when I am busy baking, no choice leh as she also sleep when I went to bed so really have no time to do any baking if hubby is not around to help.
