That’s Angel’s meal for today, Purple Cabbage + Mince Pork Porridge. Information from the internet says that Purple Cabbage actually has the same nutritional values as those normal white cabbages but with an extra phytochemical (which gives the cabbage such nice colour) that acts as an antioxidant and also improves memory. Same goes with eggplant, prune and grapes etc. I personally likes the colour very much hence thinking to expose Angel to more colours when it comes to her meal.
The colour of the porridge turned out to be much nicer then I have thought. When I first saw it, I was a bit worried that Angel wouldn’t want to eat her meal as she hates black colour food. Hence when I place the bowl onto her table, I was anxiously watching her facial expression. The first word coming out from her mouth was “per-per” (as in purple)!! LoL That is definitely a sweet surprise, I didn’t know that she is actually paying attention to those colour cards I flash to her every morning after all :)
She accepted her ‘Purple Meal’ pretty well actually, managed to finish the portion which I gave to her. I personally think that the porridge is very healthy and very presentable too but purple cabbage tends to be harder in texture then the normal white cabbage, I had shredded them finely so she wouldn’t be having a hard time munching on them and rejects them later.

i saw the purple cabbage when i was in cameroon highlands a few mths back. we bought one and after seeing the colour fade off while washing, we dare not eat it. am not sure if those are colourings???

u r creative too in a sense of making/cooking food to ur angel .... not like me, forever the same porridge and noodle.. i just worry my boy cant accept others different food i cook . that y i not dare to try .... BUT Angel such a good girl, she is not choosy on food.. this is very good sign and she grow healthily too.
aiyo.. i alwiz admire those kids who can still take porridge.. i cant say enuf of ethan stopping his porridge at 12 mths old! been eating rice since then.. cracked my head so hard to try new varieties of porridge oso he wont take... !

2ma, oh ...... Really?? I am not too sure about whether it’s the colouring or the colour coming out from the cabbage itself ..... anyone??? But when I wash mine, I didn’t notice a lot of colour coming out from the leaves as I haven’t cut them yet, but once I finely chopped them, yes, my chopping board was dye purple ...... hhmmm, nowadays really have to be wary of anything that we eat, thanks for the info 2ma! I will pay more attention to that !!

Anggie, oh ...... pls don’t say that *shy* :D My girl is very very picky in terms of her food actually and that’s why I have to prepare different types of food for her to try out hoping that she will not picked about her food and are willing to try out new food. I think exposure in terms of colour and variety of food since young is good for them coz after seeing and eating for few times, few times cannot then few more times, eventually they will get familiar with it and are more willing to eat more variety food and get different nutrition from different colour food group :) But I understand that it doesn’t work for some kid too ...... So really have to ‘cracking our head’ when it comes to kids meal hor, me too headache sometime :) Since you son is eating his porridge ad noodles so I think he is eating well, no worries :) So what’s your son fav food?
Merryn, Angel is consider very slow in teething and that’s we still need to feed her with porridge plus she loves porridge more then rice actually. Sometimes I admire your little Ethan who eat rice well and don’t mind to do the chewing in such young age too :) It’s good that they eat their meal either porridge or rice :) I have not much idea when it comes to toodler’s rice dish ..... what dish you cook for him? Mind to share?
PeiWun, hahaha ..... ya, I still remember your purple sweet potato dish for little Sean and I thought it’s yam lagi ...... Silly me :) That’s sure is one special meal for hi but sad to say that until today, I didn’t manage to get the purple potato yet, maybe I should look harder :)
Mummy Gwen, thanks ...... oh ya, her appetite is improving now (phew) after a looooooooong month of battling with her and cracking my head in the kitchen, oh, during that period really is so stressed up and even hubby starts yelling at her for spitting out all her food!!! Ermm, I never seen purple cabbage before, and I am surprise that the vege really gives such a great colour to the meal. I love purple alot.

To be frankly ..... No leh, kekeke .. coz I don’t really fancy Barney that much. Until today I still think that he looks pretty ugly for an imaginary friends and his voice are so ..... Ermmm, don’t know how to say, hahahaha!! But since he makes my Angel so happy, I am starting to appreciate him more now :)
Haha... yup, me too! I fancy Baby Bop more coz she's so cute lar... Barney's voice is so "Old"... As you said, as both our kids fancy them so much, what to do? Hehe... since I've installed Astro Fun Package recently, Ashton has grown to love Thomas & Friends liao, esp the opening song where he can really concentrate (dunno what he's concentrating lar).. and don't bother about me even I called him!
My son fav food is Noodle ... Noodle and Noodle ... just like his mummy ... i m craving for Noodle for my 1st and 2nd pregnancy ... hahhahah

BARNEY'S COLOURFUL WORLD LIVE - favourite scene is when the elephant came out and the elephant song is sung;
SING & DANCE WITH BARNEY - love the BINGO song, Itsy-Bitsy-Spider & of coz, I-LOVE-YOU; and
MORE BARNEY SONGS - favourite scene is the puppet show with the 3 Little Pigs.
What's the favourite Barney disc for Angel? Does she still watch Barney, or has she progressed 100% to Thomas & Friends?

More Barney Song – Laugh with me song & Hickory Dickory Dock scene where she will insisted that I do all the actions with her. But hor, she hates the 3 Little Pigs puppet show wor coz she is horrified with the big brown woof. She will come to me crying and tell me pah-pah (afraid) unless I was there with her and she would watch that particular scene like a leach refuse to let me go. Other then that, she loves all of them :)
Sing & Dance with Barney - Minter Sun song, Old MacDonald & the clapping song. She just love to dance and sing with them.
Barney Good Day Good Night – She loves the kids sleeping scene and asked me to “shhhhh ….” at time :)
Barney Night Before Chirstmas – she love ths signing Christmas coral part and would sign together with the kids :)
The rest of Barney disk she is ok ok la … yes, she is a all time Barney fans and she seldom watch Thomas and Friends now coz she started to tell me Pah pah of Thomas’s rolling eyes. She still loves the opening songs of Thomas very much though. So Barney is always her NO. 1 !!!

I also agreed with Angel when she said she's scared of Thomas' rolling eyes. I do think that the show is quite boring for kids, coz I see that Ashton don't really pay attention to it, except for the opening theme. Some more, they really show an angry face if they gets angry ya... I still think that Barney, Sesame Street & Bananas in Pajamas are still more child-friendly.. Don't you think so?
Poor Angel.. she's afraid of the big bad wolf ya! Ashton is fine with it, and he don't need me to accompany him to watch, as long as he is "free" from his playpen.
But nowadays he's not watching that much coz the moment I slot the VCD into the player, he will eject the VCD and play with the player! *sigh* He enjoys playing with the player (too bad coz our player & ASTRO decoder are placed within his reach). You know what? When I asked him to "PLAY" the disc, he ejected the disc, and press the eject button again to slot the disc inside the player so that the disc will automatically "PLAY".. Haha.. that's his way of "playing" the disc instead of just pressing the PLAY button...
Esmeralda, oh ….. you mentioned Bananas in Pajamas, I think that’s one of the cartoon which I don’t really fancy, hahahaha …. How come the bananas will dress up in pajamas lah, looks so silly, hehehehe ….. Angel doesn’t like this cartoon as well, does Ashton like to watch?
Oh ya, I love Sesame Streets but Ashton is afraid of all the characters there, don’t know why. Maybe she will appreciate them more when she is older. I don’t really know what’s so scared about those puppets hor, Elmo looks cute!
Hahaha …. Ashton knows how to ‘play’ his VCDs now ya? Actually that’s a good way to play them leh, at least he understand by pressing the eject button, the disc will play automatically, clever boy!!!
Haha... Maybe kids like to look at silly things. Ashton loves to see us if we act real silly in front of him. He will laugh till his face turn tomato red... Actually I kind of prefer the teddy bears in the Bananas In Pajamas show.. and Ashton loves the teddy bears there too.. I dunno why he is so fascinated about teddy bears since young! Of coz, his attention to the show is not as much as the Barney's. He only gets excited when the teddy bears came out.. Haha..
Haha.. I think you typed wrongly... Ashton instead of Angel... Hehehe... Yup Elmo is really cute... his voice is cute too, esp when he sings the "La-La-La-La... La-La-La-La" song... Ashton grow to love it since I introduced Elmo to him via VCD... I even got him an Elmo pants yesterday. Too bad they don't have the Elmo shirt! *sigh*
Well, I dunno until when can my DVD player last... sometimes he even tried to pull the disc tray out when I'm not looking at him!!!

- I don’t think Ashton will spoilt the DVD player lah. Why not you tell him not to pull the DVD player coz I think he started to understand you more now. Strangely Angel will only push the button but never pull them out leh. But she tried to bend the disk when I am not looking la. I think the only way to keep our thing safe is never to let them have access to them :)

Ic ic …. Hahahaha, not the Elmo costumes for sure :) But sometimes kids will asked for costumes like Superman la, Spider man la which looks so “funny”, hahahaha ……. I did dress Angel up as Tiger from Winnie The Pooh and a BEE too, kekekeke ….. looks so funny but don’t know why I will bought the costume in the first place :P
I think Elmo’s T-shirt are not that hard to find la, but until now, I haven’t seen any decent Barney’s T-shirt, have you? Thinking to get of of those too since she love Barney so much but when the T-shirt was printed with a Purple ‘creature’ on top, the T-shirt looks so strange pula, hahahaha.
Haha.. I think at their age now, they won't ask us to buy those costumes for them, but I believe when they grow up a bit like 4 years old, they will ask us to buy that! I also dressed Ashton in Tiger before, coz his aunt bought the costume for him..
Yup, I also haven't found a decent Barney shirt too coz I saw at Toys R Us here there are few, but the purple colour is not that vibrant, looks so pale, and not attractive... but I think they have some for girls one that are quite nice... Have you gone to Toys R Us at KL and have a look?
Esmeralda, never beent o toy r us lately coz once go there, surely will bring something which we are not planned to bought at the first place home, cannot resist la, hahahaa ….. I will go and have a look there then, didn’t notice that they sell Barney costume at all but for Barney, I think most of Angel’s hankies are Barney but she didn’t bother to have a look at all, strange!
