Tofu Dishes

Initially I was a bit worried about the borax (硼沙) issues which some heartless manufacturer would used in making their tofu instead of the normal salt or acids coagulant, so it take such a long delay for me to introduced tofu to Angel. Tofu actually is a food full of Iron, Calcium and Protein and sometimes referring to the ‘beauty food’ which women should consume more so that our skin will be silky smooth like the Tofu *smile*.

I also learn that tofu maybe be stored in the refrigerator for up to 1 week if we store it in a container of water which is airtight, changing the water daily. So here few of the dishes which I had prepared for Angel since I first started her with the beauty food – Tofu.

So here it is Angel’s 1) Plain Tofu Porridge with Bone Soup Base and also 2) Tofu + Tomato and Meat Porridge. Angel could accept the plain Tofu porridge so I guess she doesn’t hate the taste of tofu which is good. And she absolutely like the Tofu + Tomato and Meat Porridge and this dish is so simple that could be done in less then a few minutes.

Moving to the more ‘toddler’ version is 1) Stir Fried Tofu with Mince Meat and Spring Onion (I serve it with Porridge / Plain rice / Pasta for Angel) and also 2) Japanese Tofu topped with Tomato Meat Sauce. Surprisingly she doesn’t like the Japanese tofu which has been stir fried until golden brown. She would spit the tofu out but I honestly think that it taste nice even for adults. So now I know Angel likes her tofu to be plain and silky smooth as compare to the golden brown version. No wonder she doesn’t like her fried eggs sunny side up. What a picky eater she is :)

NOrmally I cook tofu in soup. This week Philip's menu is Pork Broth + Carrot+ Potatoe, Tofu and Powder Ikan Bilis. So day 1 he has them with rice, day 2, he has them with pasta, day 3 he has them with beehoon, day 4 mash up in porridge, etc...

Try considering making gravy / soft food instead of dry...

Good that Angel likes plain tofu taste, so is more easier for you to cook the dishes. No need to crack your head in making the tofu more delicious for her.

Sarah likes things that has been fried, thats why she likes the japanese tofu.

Such a long time I did not cook tofu for Sarah..thanks for reminding, hehe.

Kristie, thanks ….. I seldom go under the sun coz I tend to get sunburn pretty easily :)

JT, oh …. Sarah loves fried stuffs ah? Then it’s good, actually Angel’s appetite has been really strange lately, plain stuffs, bland taste food, fried food all she don’t want to eat ….. I really don’t know what she wants to eat now but I guess if I feed her with KFC / Ice Cream / Junk food everyday, sure she will eat very fast, sigh!!!

I think is a big headache for every mommy when the kid become picky in food.

Somemore, for Angel, all the while she was fine, just after CNY, her appetite got sudden change.

Is ok, since she likes blant taste food, then you just cook those food for her at this moment. See maybe after that, her appetite will back to normal or not.

MommyAngel said...

JT, no ... I mean all types of food she don't want including blant taste food. She just loves milk and MEAT like Char Sau, etc @_@

Kristie said...

caroline, i am the opposite of u... i love the sun haha... and i love tan skin!

MommyAngel said...

Kristie, you do? Maybe you have a healthy skin coz according the skin specialist, I have very thin skin layer and that's why if I stay under the sun even for a minute, my skin will get burned quickly and I can actually feel the 'pain', honestly!! Even with my thick jeans on while I am driving, I can even feel the sun is 'burning' my tight leh .... no kidding and that's why I have to put another layer of clothing / some cardboard on my lap so that I don't feel the pain from the sunburn. Terrible hor ...

Esmeralda said...

Oh yeah... Ashton also dislike fried japanese tofu.. he will spit out the skin though and only eat the soft tofu inside... *slap forehead*

MommyAngel said...

Hahaha ..... another Angel here!! I personally thinks that the skin taste so much nicer!!

Esmeralda said...

Hehe.. yup me too! Usually the skin will go to my stomach! *wink*
