New Food - Egg Yolk

I have attempted to test Angel on eggs for a few times since she was 1 but in the end, I didn’t do it due to some ‘unforeseen’ circumstances (her allergies towards some other foods). So yesterday, I think it’s the time as she will be scheduled for her flu shots soon (as recommended by her paediatrician and it contain eggs proteins) so I think it’s time to try out how her allergic reaction towards eggs especially egg whites (one of the top 8 of all allergen) which I am more concerned about.

I am giving her a hard boiled egg yolk as a start and mixed it with some formula milk so it can get down the throat more easily. Unfortunately, Angel hates the taste and refused to eat them :( So finally the yolk has to go into her porridge and she finished them all up. Today I will also add those yoIks into her porridge, will keep on monitoring her condition and also continue feeding her the yolk for a period of 1 week. I do hope that she will not have any allergic reaction towards the yolk before I proceed with the whites by next week hopefully. Fingers crossed and I do hope that she has outgrown her allergy towards eggs so that she won’t have to live with her normal egg free diet any more :)

I thought we should give cooked egg first leh. Must give Angel half-boiled egg to test her allergies? Can't you cook scramble eggs for her to try?

Hope Angel is not allergic to it!

Mummy Gwen .... hhmmm .... I mean hard boiled egg not half boiled egg la, hahahaha. I don't dare to give half boiled leh .... the 3rd picture is because I already added milk in it. The 2nd picture is the fully cooked hard boiled york, as hard as rock :P :P

Hi Rachel, yes .. I am giving the hard boiled egg (no half boiled eggs for young children) and you are so right, it does have a very strong smell .....

I am also thinking scramble egg but .... with only 1 tiny egg yolk (don't dare to give more then 1 at this moment), I don't think can scramble leh, can it??

Caroline, Sorry ah. I read wrongly. You can add more than 1 egg to scramble mah. You can sapu it if Angel don't like it. Can even cook omelette with onions too.

For me, the first time I introduce whole egg to Sarah was, putting it into the soup (noodle soup). She likes it anyway.
Hope that Angel is not allergic towards egg.

At last the crucial test has arrived. So how is Angel taking it? Is she allergic towards the eggs?

Hi Mumy Gwen, Serene, JT and Esmeralda:

-Oh ... I was nicknamed Apple thanks to my huge round face :P
-Yes, I love Roti Canai (plain) with kari ikan gravy, yum yum!!
-Yes, I was crazy about fishing but I am not patient :P Normally hubby will help me to put those baits on the hook, not me :)
-I will only go fishing when I am back to my hometown. Me and hubby will sneak out even during midnights (when our hands are itching for fishing) and only came back to sleep next day evening until my mom call us crazy couple, hahaha.

i read that if you want to introduce egg to a baby, u have to start with the yolk first, and it has to be fully cooked. Egg white around 1 yr old.

gd luck dear!

JT, maybe next time we can go fishing together :)

Kristie, yes .... that was the normal case but Angel is a highly allergy kid so no choice, she only gets to taste the yummy egg yolk now :) I am hoping to best on those whites too :)

My sis advised me not to be in a hurry to give Jonathan egg due to allergy reason. Until now I have yet to really give him the whole hard-boiled egg. So far, I've mixed a little in his porridge or scrambled egg. Good thing he is ok so far. Maybe in another few months, I shall let him try half-boiled egg.

Julie, your sister is right, actually it’s better to delay then rush things if you really read from the internet as why. But how come giving half-boiled eggs? Any nutrition reasons behind opting for half-boiled eggs? I think for kids, it’s better to be hard boil for their little tummy as not all bacteria will be killed if half boiled leh. Pls share if I was wrong ya 
