'P' for Pasta!

Today I cooked Angel the alphabet pasta which has been sitting in my kitchen cabinet since months ago. As she will be having her ABC pasta for the first time, I think it should be nice to go with the ABC soup which she likes a lot. I did not add in the tomatoes due to some allergy concerns so her soup will be without tomatoes at least for the moment being. I also add in some red dates and some port mince (apart from those ribs) for taste. I did cooked her pasta for 10 minutes more then the required time according to the packaging to make sure they are much softer then normal so Angel will still be ok if she does choke on them.

Angel definitely loves her alphabet pasta in soup!! She finished a fairly huge potion for lunch (as you can see from the picture) and even crying for more. But I did not give in as her tummy was so huge making me feels that it will explode any minutes (I am not kidding)! Maybe it’s due to the soup as well. It’s good that she have no problem swallowing this particular type of alphabet pasta. However, I did notice she did not chew much on her food as she could easily swallow them with the help from the soup. I do hope that she didn’t burden her tummy too much without chewing them. So at dinner time, I decided to do a dry version just to make sure she does some chewing exercises.

I make a pasta paste with thicker consistency out of the potatoes, onions and carrots in the ABC soup and also top up with some chicken mince with corn starch and water which I steam it while I cook me and hubby’s rice in the rice cooker. I meshed the meat up before served and let her eat it like our normal pasta with sauce. I think she is fine with the dry version as well. She also chew her food more compare to the soup based version which I think it’s good for her to start practicing some chewing exercise before fully converted to having rice in near future. I can see that Angel loves both version as much but the later is definitely less messy when it comes to feeding time. It is a great satisfaction to see her gobble up her meal today and even asked for more. Apart from that, She also keeps pointing at her pasta and say “A” “P” “S” etc but I am sure she don’t know which is which :P I think her eyes were glued to her pasta meal for the entire feeding today :) Tomorrow I will do another dry pasta version which is cream corn style and also to start her with a home made spaghetti sauce too to test her on any allergy reactions on tomatoes. I hope she likes them too and hope they will just taste as nice. I guess this week will be a pastas week for my little Angel :)

Hi Peiwun, I got it from Cold Storage The Curve but sometimes they will have it but sometimes they won't. Try your luck then.

Hi Irene, oh .... talking about patience, I think I have none but I have no choice, how I wish I have a maid to help me out with the cooking. If I am not doing it, I don't know waht else to feed Angel :)

Hi Serene, I got it from Cold Storage. Oh ... actually I didn't know that pasta can be cooked with soup leh coz all these while, I only thinking of spaghetti sauce with pasta + cheese on top!

Mummy Gwen, decorations?? Where??? I do think that Angel is ready for rice too but she doesn't have much teeth yet so I think should wait until she got her 4 molars???? Gwen is not chewing much too? Hahahaha ..... then she can befriend with Angel leh ..... coz everytime I feed her I had to repeat to her "Yao yao yao" (chew chew chew) or else, she will never chew on her food too :)

Hi Mery, I think you just need to pay attention coz even at Sabah also I could see them in those supermarket where they sell imported goods ... but not all the time. Actually when I was small, I have been eating this pasta already leh.

Joanne, no choice coz if I don't do the dry version, Angel will not chew her food ...... I think I will not post up my other pasta recipe la, so pai seh la coz some mommies already saying that I made weird food for my girl in MSN leh, hahaha. Do you think that feeding bb with pasta / mesh potatoes, etc and not the normal porridge is weird?? I don’t think so leh ….. hhmmm ….

Hi Agnes, thanks :)

Hi Julie, you are right, a bit difficult to get this pasta actually so whenever I saw it, I will grab it. That's why it has been sitting in my kitchen cabinet since long time ago :)

Lucky Angel! Mummy is so creative in cooking for the her! Really salute u Caroline for being able to diversify so many kinds of food for Angel. Btw, when u r cooking, does Angel go into the kitchen and disturb around? Coz Ashton now know how to go into the kitchen, and pulled all my drawers, opened up all the cabinets, which make it very difficult for me to cook. He just don't wanna stay outside!

Nice shots! Love those with the alphabets arranged on top of the carrots.

Of course the porridge looks delicious too. :)

Ooo... I can't wait to introduce Ryan this pasta. Hopefully next month lor.

Hi Doreen, thanks for your compliments about the photos .... hopefully your bb Ryan will love her ABC pasta lor. You can get the pasta at your place right? Now here hardly can find any .... maybe out of stocks for the moment being :(

Hi Esmeralda, thanks so much for your kind words. Actually I love to do diversified Angel's food coz she has missed out a lot on other high allergen food such seafood, eggs etc so I hope she will not missed out on choices of food she gets and eat healthy.

Oh ya, Angel follow me into the kitchen all the time too coz if not, she will be climbing and jumping on the sofa etc which worries me more. Few months back, she is exactly like Ashton, open up all drawers and touching this and that, that's why besides cooking her meal, I hardly step into the kitchen and always ‘ta-pau’ outside most of the time for our dinner. Sometimes if the timing is right, I will prepare the dish when she is sleeping and only cooked them when hubby is back. Somehow after 2 months of lecturing her not to open those drawers, etc, she seems to know that I do not allow her to do so and only curi-curi do it when she sees that I am not watching her. Maybe this is just another phrase for Ashton …… give him some time to understand mommy do not like him to open those drawers, I think kids will not be interested to open up drawers forever  BTW, does those safety locks helps? Or sometimes I just tie the knob with the rubber band so she cannot open them up.

No weird lah...ok mah, is all up to your creation mah.
Maybe you just tell your MSN fren that you have a weird buddy too..hehe.

MommyAngel said...

Joanne, thanks .... maybe we are too exposed to those western web site so we are ok with the idea :)

Esmeralda said...

Caroline, u r most welcome! Talking about the safety locks/clips/rubber bands, I've tried to use that to "lock" the cabinets & drawers, but Ashton broke all of them - which I think is of no use now. I'm just worried that when he opens up the drawers, he will hurt his head.. Hai.. maybe what you said is right. Maybe it's just a phase that we need to go thru. Hopefully when he grows up a bit like Angel, he will be more obedient. Btw, I can't wait for my hb to come back then cook coz my hb usually comes back quite late - that's why we employed a maid initially. So now without a maid the house is hay-wire.

MommyAngel said...

Ashton broke all the safety locks?? Gosh .... what a strong boy he is, kekekeke .... actually Angel did not break any of these but instead, she will pull them off and give it to me (Urghhhhh) .... I can understand your situation because with a kid at Ashton age at home, mommy really hardly have time to do anything let alone cooking. That's why I think I did not have a proper lunch for long long time already so normally, my lunch will either be junk food or maggie mee, sigh!!

Esmeralda said...

High 5 too Caroline. I think both of us are in the same both. Sometimes maggi mee taste so good when u r in a hurry ya!

The safety locks at my mum's place - Ashton will take it off, and pass it to my mum.. Sigh sigh.. of all the things in the world, why must he play wid it??

MommyAngel said...

Esmeralda, I also wish to know what is in thier mind :P but hor .. at least we should be hapy that they pull it off and give it to us rather then bite it or hide it somewhere else ..... I am having a hard time looking for my TV remote now coz Angel does hide them some times and I was like "Tell mama where you put the remote Angel!!!!!" but of course, she just look at me la, sigh!!

Sarah's Daddy and Mommy said...

yeap, i think so.
Coz I remembered the first time I showed what was the food I prepared for Sarah to my mom, she showed me a weird face, kekek

Esmeralda said...

Talking about finding things Caroline.. I think mine is more "keng"... He likes to hide the remote's batteries.. So imagine trying to find a tiny thing when u r so bz and hot??? Sometimes when he's being extra good he'll will point to somewhere near where he hid them, but usually I have to find them, pulling up all the sofas cushions, digging my hands into his toys' containers, or even crawling on the floor to see whether they are under the chairs or not. There was once he threw our Astro smart card into the kitchen bin. We were searching high and low for it. Luckily I found it in the kitchen bin (of coz wid all the kitchen wastes) before I threw the rubbish.

MommyAngel said...

Hi Joanne, hahaha ..... really ah? But as long as it's a healthy meal, don't care chinese or western style la, right?

Esmeralda, I think you are more 'keng' then Ashton leh .... even he throw the Astro card in the dusbin also you manage to find it ..... hahahaha. I can see that you are also very 'busy' when Ashton is around hor :)

Esmeralda said...

Haha.. Have to be "geng" than him. Otherwise daddy will make noise where his smart card goes! With Ashton around, there's not a single time that I'm free until he naps, and that's the time I can check on my blog a bit, and do some housechores too. I've been MIA in MP Forum for quite sometime liao.

Esmeralda, not just you, me too :)
