Double Oouuuuch!!!

Yesterday brought Angel for her allergy follow-up in the clinic again. Her paediatrician told us that due to the weather for the past month, a lot of kids are having rashes problems as Angel (Hmmm ….. something new to learn coz I did noticed that 3 of my other friends’ kids are also having rashes for the pass week). Her paediatrician told us that it is actually a good sign that her red rashes is under control and no more oral antihistamine was necessary, instead, she has changed for another stronger cream namely Topicort to apply to Angel’s skin sparingly and as necessary. As usual, I have goggled from the internet and come to know that the medicine is a detoximetasone topical which is a topical steroid cream. When using this cream, do not cover the area with a bandage or coverings and should stop if the sign such as insomnia, rashes on mouth, etc occurred. I also looks for the side effects of such medication, long terms effect on small children, correct way of applications (rather then just put them on) and also some other useful info which normally the nurses or the doctor will left out because of their ‘busy schedules’ :P

The out of expected event is that Angel is also having her vaccines on that day! Due to some allergy concerns over the MMR vaccines and also some other unforeseen circumstances, Angel has been putting on hold of her vaccines injections until today. Lately, the escalation cases of kids catching the measles (even those who has been vaccinated) worries us. So finally, we came to an agreement that this is a perfect timing to get her vaccines. So there goes the crying, kicking, arching and shouting again (oh, even without the injections she still does that once she sees a doctor or coming into a confinement place such as a clinic!). She is having 2 injections which is the MMR and also her JE. Her doctor told us that she will developed some fever and red rashes all over her body in 7-14 days time and a prescription of some children’s paracetamol and calamine lotion should comes in handy. We had also scheduled her for another 2 vaccines next month. Poor girl, she will be horrified if she even knows that this will not be her last shots :)

I did noticed that each time after her vaccinations, she will behave crankier and needs more attention. Yesterday our normal Mr. Nice and Cool (Hubby) can’t even take her never ending crying and whining and start giving her a good ‘lesson’!! Poor girl …. So I start telling stories to hubby (said he was my baby boy lo) about how bad he will feels if some sort of virus microorganisms (vaccines) were injected into his body to stimulate those antibodies (a war is happening inside her tiny body) but yet, Angel couldn’t convey her discomfort to us, hubby starts to feel sorry and guilty over his act and start to hug and kiss his poor little girl. Hahaha ….. it does feel amusing to see hubby so angry in the first minute and behave the opposite the next minutes kissing and hugging Angel saying sorry to her :) Anyway, hopes that the vaccine works fine for Angel and also she will recover entirely from her allergy soon :) Oh boy …… I am so tired now, you guys should see my panda eyes! But hey, at least hubby gets to see a rare panda for free without heading all the way to China LoL

Hi Caroline... What a coincidence. I also brought Ashton for his jab yday, but it's a Chicken Pox jab (which I also blog about in my blog). Poor Angel has to take 2 jabs at 1 go ya? Actually Ashton's paediatrician also told us we can give him 2 jabs at 1 go (left & right thighs), but my hb seems don't want it to be that way coz he don't want Ashton to come up with fever, grumpy thing, etc.. So we have to let him have his jab 1 at a time. So basically every month Ashton will be visiting The Kids' Clinic! In a way, this is also good as we can monitor his weight, height, etc every month.

Your hb sure is funny. Scolded Angel, then hug her back again. Of coz, kids after having their jabs will be crankier, fussier and sometimes will come up with fever. So just have to be patient ya...

How's Angel today? Is she OK? Any rashes after the MMR jab?

Hi Mummy Gwen, actually poor Angel not being scold by hubby .... she got a good smack on both hands so it's quite pity actually :( I hope we can save that for her real intolerable bad behaviours then smacking her for crying non-stop or being cranky or fussy. Actually hubby is a very good tempered man and I was the hot tempered mom but seem like little Angel’s behaviours for the past few days/ week were really getting onto hubby’s nerves :( :( Oh .. you want to see the 'panda' ya, hahaha .... naughty mommy!!!

Esmeralda, ya ... I read your blog and Ashton is such a brave and good boy. As for the injections, if you can manage taking them 1 at a time I think it is brilliant. But sometimes I will think if she were to have 4 jab which will caused fever, I rather she had them 2 times rather then 4 times???? But she has 3 more jab still waiting for her apart from the pneumococcal (total 4 jabs) so that was really a lot!!! How come kids today need so many jab???

Hi Irene, little Ethan is having his jab too? Wow ... seems like everyone is getting a jab these few days and is it an auspicious date for having an injections?? Hehehe .....

I tell u Caroline, I also sometimes cannot tahan with Gwen's behaviour when she was inconsolable and cried for no reason.(e.g want something that is forbidden) So, enough is enough I would give her a good smack. U know what, she quickly stopped crying and few minutes later can start laughing some more.*sigh*

Yes Caroline.. I do think less visits to the paed is good for them. Kids nowadays have so many vaccinations as our environment gets more polluted, and more diseases spreading around.. and now, the food that we are taking is not "pure" anymore... even chickens and livestocks are injected with antibiotics, etc

Doreen, thanks for your concern :)

Mummy Gwen, Hahaha ... so the smacking does work for Gwen, that is a good thing!! As for Angel, the more we smack her, the harder she will cry, we have tried to ignore her crying but she can go on for an hour which really drives me crazy :( But I found that a good lecture, I mean a really long-winded, loud and fierce lecture + isolate her in a room for few minutes works better on her. she will came out of the room crying still, knowing mommy is really angry and try to "console" mommy and give me a kiss on the cheek and see whether I smile back at her. If I did then she will be smiling and cheerful again with tears still on her face, so funny!! Or sometimes she was cranky, I will take her for a bath to 'cool' her down. How I wished that smacking works on my Angel too coz obviously, it saves more of my time, energy, breathe and also my blood pressure will not go up so high! I think little Gwen is a good girl, at least she knows smacking means No! Thanks for sharing your valuable experience with me, at least I can be more versatile when one method does work anymore :) We can share share experience ya :)

Hi Esmeralda, what you said is so right. But I am glad that at least they come out with the vaccines too, if not, really cannot imagine how our bb going to survive and protected in our contaminated world!

Hi Yugene, thanks for the concern, actually lately my “little baby boy” also turns into a panda due to our naughty Angel, hahaha ..... I think facial will not do much for our terrible panda eyes, what we need is a good and uninterrupted good night sleep for the entire week :)

Hi Mery, thanks for your concern :)

Mommy Gwen, don't worry about the smacking :) I believe every parent has their own way of dealing with their own kids and all we want is the best for them :)

Hi Sha, thanks for concern :)
