Masak - Masak Time

This is the beginning of another of Angel’s new development – pretend play. Pretend play is very important for young toddlers as they absorb these experiences and make senses of their world most effectively when engaged in such imaginative play. I have always incorporating some form of imaginative play with her at home but she doesn’t seem to enjoy it very much until now. Although it’s just a beginning stage for little Angel but I am glad to see that she is more into the idea of such play and also starts serving me some ‘imaginary coffee’ or ‘imaginary breakfast’ too if not from her Minnie Mouse cookery set :)

^ ^ Angel the Chef is super busy with her soup on the stove and the eggs in the oven :)

^ ^ Time to fried some fish too …… curry fish I suppose?? LoL

I will have to pretend to ‘enjoy’ all the dishes which was brought upon me or else, she would throw a fit until I give in and start ‘eating’ :P Most of the time she would told me, “Mommy~~, Eat!! Eat!! Bro-kli ~~(brocolli) / Ca-rut (carrot)!” etc and I will start telling her I have no utensils to eat them then she will quickly go and look for the fork and knife or even the ladle which comes with the set for me. If I were to praised that her cooking is so nice and yummy, she will smile away happily and most of the time, squealing in joy too! She is such a happy little girl :)

^ ^ Ok …. It’s serving time! Let’s see what Mommy have to say ….. :P

^ ^ Sometimes she would pretend to eat them up herself and tell me they are “Nice ~~~” too :)

This is one of the most memorable growing up stage. Soon your masak masak collection will grow with more pots n pans. I like to tease her when she makes me coffee. I'll say not sweet enough, and she'll run to her set to add sugar, then I'll say not hot enough, want more milk, more coffee powder etc.. I enjoy seeing her tiny feet running up and down. I'm terrible huh ? :)

Hehe, Angel is so cute.. I remember I used to pretend play with myself too, haha. Wawa loves masak masak also, but I just cant find the suitable cooking set for him. Most are with girlish design or print...

Psst : Angel so chubby oh..hehehe

She's so cute with the main masak-masak :-D
Both my daughters played the same too even till now (age 7 and 6) and their younger brother (2++) will be their 'customer'

Jonathan loves to play masak-masak with my pots, pans and cutlery and my niece's kitchen set. I wanted to get him the full kitchen set but hubby says it's a girl toy lar! So you think I should listen to hubby?

I enjoy reading your blog... interesting and informative (especially the playdough recipe & the many meal ideas!):-)

I read that playing pretend is good for children's development... love to hear more stories about Angel :-)

MommyGwen, can see that Gwen’s imagination is growing stronger day by day :) My Angel doesn’t know how to imagine herself as a caterpillar yet :) Ya, it’s fun watching them play :)

2ma, me too but I prefer the ‘real thing’ when I was still a kid :P

Anggie, oh …. I have seen bigger kitchen set, it’s like …. The whole kitchen is in it!! LoL

Coffeesncookies, not at all …. I think interaction in pretend play is very fun just like what you did with your girl :) Watching them acting as if they are really a cook and do their best to please the ‘customer’ (us) put a smile on my face :)

Bonnie, Angel’s set have a Winnie the Pooh Pattern too :) I think boys or girls will love the cooking set la :) I use to play this with my brother at home too ;)

Carolyn, hahahaha …. I think your kids are having more fun because they will have more people involved in their play. Angel is only daddy and mommy to play with at the moment, a bit boring I think for her ……. :) Your son is so nice, he didn’t make a fuss that he wants to cook instead???

PeiWun, thanks …. She is a better cook then me :)

Mommy To Chumsy, hahaha … yes she did!! And really forcing us to eat!!! :P :P

Julie, I read from somewhere that for kids our kid’s age, there is no one toy which is not suitable for boys / girls to play with, as all kids toys were meant to stimulate a kids imaginary play and also expose them to things/activities that he will see or do in their later stages of growing up. So I think it’s a bad idea to get him the set if he really loves it that much, why not right???? Or on the other hand, look at all the greatest chef in the world today, most jobs were handle perfectly by a male figure, am I right? So cooking is definitely not a woman’s business anymore in this modern world :) :) I hope I did answer your dilemma 

Serene, I am sure Xixi will be overly joy when she knows that she will get a new masak masak set soon :)

Juliana, hahahahaha Leanne, ….. sure you can!! Wait till we get back first la :P

BoeyJoey, hello there and thanks for dropping by. I am more then glad to share :) You have 2 wonderful kids there and I will drop by to explore more of your blog :) Cheers!

Merryn, dinosaurs out to eat some crabs? Hahahahaha … I bet he must love crabs a lot and dinosaurs too I suppose?? Cute isn’t it?

Linda, ya …. Me too think that it’s good investment but let’s hope the cooking set can withstand Angel’s ‘torture’ long enough :)

Haha.. sooner you'll hv a great kitchen helper for u Caroline... She really enjoyed her cooking time ya...

I hv a handy 'helper' too here, but he is using my real cooking utensils, even trying to get the saucepan and put all his alphabets toys inside it! *slap forehead*

MommyAngel said...

Esmeralda, so far she is kind of a good helper to me actually :) She will be more then willing to help me out in the kitchen and will rush into my direction quickly whenever I call her name from the kitchen :)
- hahahaha ..... where did he got those saucepan? I only have 2 at home so I don't have a spare one for Angel to play with :)

Esmeralda said...

He got it from the kitchen cabinet Caroline... Sometimes I didn't use the saucepan so he took it lor.. sometimes when I'm clearing the house after his bedtime, I'll occasionally look into his toys storage basket and containers to get back what's rightfully mine.. ;)

And his other toy in the kitchen is the fridge. Kept on opening the fridge doors to play with the freezer's temperature control, and to arrange the bottles inside the fridge. *sweats*

Sarah's Daddy and Mommy said...

The masak masak set is so nice and so pinkish.
It is good that Angel enjoyed the game.

Actually I like to play masak2 with Sarah but she less playing with it now. Now she is more into Play-Doh.

MommyAngel said...

Esmeralda, hahahahaha ….. so funny la when I read that you will search into her toy basket to retrieve your cooking pans :) Seems like he has full access to your kitchen cabinet already, hahahahaha :)
- oh, he can reached the freezer control too? Our freezer control is quite high and far back so I don’t think Angel knows there is a button there too :P But be careful, don’t let Ashton spoil the fridge control or else, I think it will cost you more then the DVD player :) He surely is a very active boy ya and knows where to look for his entertainments too :P

Joanne, oh … Play-doh ah? So she likes that a lot? How long can she play with the play-doh? I think it’s nice that she has found something which interest her :)

Esmeralda said...

Yeah he really knows how to stick his finger into new 'things' as his new entertainment.

Our fridge's freezer is located on the bottom, so it's very easy for him to locate and reach the control panel. Yeah... poor fridge, everyday he will open the doors, and just peek inside, or asking for his favourite drink there.

MommyAngel said...

Esmeralda, hahahaha ..... what's his favourite drink by the way? Angel was also trying to open the fridge and asked for the bottle of coke she spotted inside the fridge, but normally she don't have the strength to open the door all by herself.

Esmeralda said...

Lucky for you Angel still unable to open your fridge's door... Ashton's favourite drink of coz his Millenium - cactus juice... everytime his water bottle is empty, he sure will open the fridge and point to it, asking for refill...

Haha.. Angel really loves her Coke ya...

MommyAngel said...

Esmeralda, oh ..... it's the millenium cactus juice again :) I bet he really loves it :)
- Yup, Angel is crazy about the coke I guess, maybe because that's the one and only carbonated drink that she has ever tried :)

Esmeralda said...

Oh yes... The Millenium again.. which I'm really scratching my head nowadays with the amount of it, together with the water he takes. Will Angel sort of make a shivering action when she drinks gassy carbonated drinks? Ashton will...

Sarah's Daddy and Mommy said...

Sorry for my late reply. Now Sarah only play Play-Doh for a while. And sometimes even did not ask for it. See, kids!

MommyAngel said...

Esmeralda, hahahahaha ….. shivering action?? Hahahahahahaha …. So cute!! Last time Angel did the same too but not now anymore :) I bet it’s Ashton first few taste of carbonated drinks?? Hahahahahahaha ….. simply too cute! Angel will do the shivering act too but for other purposing like wanted to cheer me up when she knows that I am angry, kekekekeke.

Joanne, kids is always excited about new things then will leave that aside when they have finished explore with it :) Keep it aside and I am sure few months down the lane, she will start loving it again :)
