What do you normally do before Chinese New Year? Yes, definitely a new hair cut!
After Angel's disastrous hair cut by hubby here, I finally decided to handle this important task to the hands of the professionals. And finally, it is Angel's maiden hair cut in a Salon after all these years! :D
She was extremely afraid of her hair being trimmed by a total stranger. But I told her daddy was having his hair cut too and she finally gave in under the condition that 1) I hold her hand throughout the process and 2) She do not want her hair being washed!
^ ^ Mommy! Don't let them wash my hair ok, Mommy?? *holding my hand tightly*
But .... once it's washed, no turning back :P :P And she quite enjoy her hair wash actually telling me that the 'Ayi' massage her hair :P while I was a bit apprehensive telling the lady, "Don't scratch so hard! Don't scratch so hard!".
Time to rinse off those shampoo. And look! She still clasping to my hand don't wanna let go :)
There, she is done and she looks so cute with her hair wrapped up that way :)
While waiting for her hair stylist who is busy with another customer, she was having a wonderful time jumping and running wondering around the entire salon, touching everything, then walk towards daddy who is busy with his hair being cut asking the same old question,"Papa, you cut your hair? Yes Papa? Huh? Huh?" over and over and over again. (she likes to repeat her questions over and over again lately.)
Finally, the moment of hair trimming! She was extremely nervous holding my hands firmly until I told her I have to check whether her hair was straight from afar and then quickly snap a picture of her precious moment ^_^
I requested her hair stylist to do a cute 'mushroom' cut for her, only realising that the hair stylist also having the same hair style and looks awfully strange *OMG* Then I hesitatingly told him I do not want 'his version' of mushroom style though (which half of his head was shaved bold at the back!) but he proudly told me his version is the newest trend and smile *gulp*
It's really hard to make Angel sit still throughout the entire process and I was so worried that this apparently very clumsy 'novice' leng-chai si-fu will poke her eyes. *wipe sweat*
When the work is finally done, Angel looks so urgency to check on her new look! She even grab the small mirror and wanted to check the back of her hair! @_@
So how does she look as compare to her very messy 'rockers' hair style the day before the cut?
So after Angel and daddy was done, it's mommy's turn ...... finally, phew! I thought I wasn't gonna get one this year! And guess how much is the Shampoo + Cut + Blow Dry cost?
Initially, it's RMB 20 + 60 + 110 = RMB 190 and since daddy is paying upfront joining their membership, we got a good 50% discount which makes it a finally total of RMB95 (around RM45++) for ALL 3 of us! Yes, that's before CNY and in SHANGHAI!! Can you believe it?? :P :P
So have you done with your new hair cut this year?

Our Little Landlady's Chrismas Day
On our early Christmas morning, our little "包租婆" woke up in a very jolly mood. It's the day that she has been asking and waiting for so long!!! Gosh, where she learn to pose like that?!
Does she look alike the character of the infamous 包租婆 (Landlady) in the movie "Shoulin Football"??

Our little "包租婆" was so happy when I told her that she could open up her Christmas presents finally! She has been waiting for this moment for so many days since she got her first Christmas present from Aunty GX a week before Christmas ^_^

Yeah!! X'mas present from Daddy!! Actually this is not her first fishing set. I think it’s her 2nd or 3rd but she either lost all her fishes eventually or breaking the rod so she hasn't been seeing this toy for quite some time. She was extremely happy about her new fishing set and start squealing with delight :) But she was a bit upset for daddy wrapped mommy’s present in pink while hers in brown :P

Next is from Mommy! I don’t know what to get for her and then I came across a couple of nice children books and think that she might like them. And she surely does especially the 《鳄鱼怕怕,牙医怕怕》. She has been asking me to repeat and repeat that book for almost 5 days in a roll now ^_^ Chinese books are so complete and relatively cheap here in Shanghai and it’s such a waste if I do not add to her book collection while I am still here.

Aunty GX is so thoughtful to sent Our little "包租婆" a very nice Christmas gift all the way from Beijing too. She is so happy when she first received the parcel and thank you so much Aunty GX for your thoughtfulness! Our little "包租婆" love the set so much ^_^

Mommy got a gift from Daddy too ^_^ And of course Our little "包租婆" insisted it’s her gift instead and refuse to let go (as you can see from the picture!) She wants everything and everything belongs to her! @_@

This little bunny was a gift by Aunty A few days before Christmas. She loves bunny and will rock 'Pink Bunny' to sleep everyday.
Our Christmas lunch + dinner was a steamboat in Dolar Shop (豆捞坊) in 龙之梦 Shopping mall. The food served was so good!!!! Have you ever tried a “sea urchins” (海胆) meat ball before? It’s the picture on the lower right below (yellow + white colour) and oh my!! That’s the most delicious meat balls I have ever tried!!!! NO KIDDING!!!

One of the best steamboat I have ever had so far and I am still drooling over it when I saw the picture. I said it is our Christmas lunch + dinner coz the queue for this restaurant is incredibly insane hence we decided to go there at 4pm just to avoid the normal crowd and finally got a really nice window seat!! A steamboat restaurant not to be missed!

There, that’s how we spend our Christmas day in Shanghai. Tomorrow will be another new year for all of us hence a very Happy New Year 2011 to all of you, my friend!
May the new year brings you Healthy, Joy, Love and Peace throughout the whole year!!

Dropping Hair
Postpartum hair loss is hitting me bad this time. I started shedding hair since Annabelle was 3 months old. And another 3 months has passed and Annabelle is 6 months + now, but the amount of hair loss is still unbelievable! Sigh! I wonder how long this horrible stage will continue .......

^ ^ The amount of my hair loss EVERYDAY! Cry .....
How nice if I have a nice head shape that I could shave my head totally bold! Trying to avoid the mirror at all times now, huk huk huk *sad sad sad :'(*
At the mean time, what would ease my sadness a little would be to take look at this ......

Daddy's Haircut Of Love ^_^

So when the day came, hubby brought Angel into the bathroom and then start doing his first cut with the 1 and only equipment he brought along – a scissor, while I worriedly grab a comb along and said …….
M: Errrrmmm ….. you don’t need a comb to straighten her hair before cutting????
H: No need la!! I can use my hand. *touch touch Angel’s hair*
H: See, they are straightened!
M: *gulp* …..
M: Aren’t you want to wet Angel’s hair a bit so that they were easier to cut???
H: What for? I think I can handle dry hair …..
M: But you need to wet them and then comb them properly first so that you could ……..
H: *angry* Aiyaaaa!!! You stopped bothering me lah!! I know what I am doing!!!!! Can you go out, close the door and let me do my job????
*praying while I closed the toilet door leaving a gap keeping an eye on him and Angel*
Snap! Snap! Snap! with Angel starts crying because she was terrified with those black looking hair falling onto her shoulder and body. Hubby trying hard to console our poor little girl and occasionally raising his voice to keep her standing still.
Finally, everything was done in less then 10 minutes (that was quick) and after Angel got her shower, hubby carried Angel out with a smile on his face ……
H: Not too bad!!! Not too bad!! I am good at this *wink at me*
M: Really?? *what a relief* That’s great!!! Come ….. let me blow dry Angel’s soaking wet hair after she got dressed.
Once I blow dry Angel’s hair, that’s the ‘not too bad’ outcome according to the si-fu (master) ………..

M: *call hubby* Come see yourself!!!! Is that a straight line ???
H: Impossible!!! I cut her hair straight I am sure!!!! *embarrassed*
M: And why you cut her hair that short?? That’s a boy cut!!!
H: How to cut them middle length while her ears are both side blocking the way??? I won’t want to cut into her ears you see ……
M: That’s like a ‘coconut hair’!! And a ‘crooked’ coconut hair too!!! *you know …..*
H: I think they look stylish and ok mah ~~
M: ……………….. *totally speechless so I hold Angel before him to let him have a closer look himself*
H: It is not that bad what ~~ *O.o*
Then I show Angel to the mirror while she take a long looked at herself without showing or saying anything and then suddenly, she frown in the mirror and said: “BOY~~~” *>”<* Luckily it’s another 1 month + before Chinese New Year and I am trying to be optimistic hoping that her hair will grow a bit longer by then. Since this is daddy’s first hair cut for Angel so I know that he has tried his best but restricted by his ‘very limited talents’ (which he is trying very hard to deny until now) :P. Anyhow, apart from the ‘outcome’, that is indeed a very memorable moments for our little girl as well as for daddy I think :) And later that day while hubby was carrying Angel alone in the other room, I overheard hubby secretly whispers gently to Angel “Angel~~, Sorry oh ~~…….” *Smile* I guess that must be referring to the hair cut …………

Lunar CNY 2009 (Part 1 of 2)
This year’s CNY is Angel’s 2nd CNY but I think she enjoy it more compare as to when she was still a baby :) She gets to meet all her cousins, grandparents, aunties and uncles too but she was more interested in those ‘food’ rather then the ang pows :) I also manage to cut Angel’s hair for the very first time (yup, first time I cut Angel’s hair for her) because her hair looks so messy to me :) But the end result was a bit too short but luckily her hair still is long enough to be tide up nicely, phew …… *relief*

EVE of CNY
3 of us sleep until noon because we were so tired. Then we headed for hubby’s elder sister’s house for reunion dinner. Angel gets to meet with all her cousins and aunties and uncles. She love her cousin Yung Shin so much who is the youngest among all her cousins (he is 8 years old) and refused to let go of his hands. Of course Yung Shin is so shy that Angel holds his hands all day long but he is such a sweet boy. After that Angel insisted (crying) to join the rest of her cousins playing with SIL’s 2 dogs :( No choice so I have to be her bodyguard for the entire evening. Not bodyguard actually, It was more like a playing the chasing game and I am chasing after Angel while she chases and dog, then the dog chases her back because they were chase and then I have to chase the dog away!! Gosh, it’s was so tiring!!! But the food at SIL place was so yummy :) After dinner we went to hubby’s 2nd sister’s house for another round of dinner reunion. All of us were so full that night!! Angel also got some new clothings from SILs and a pink Teddy bear from Piu-Yi-Ma but the clothing were so big!! Hhhhhmmm …… SILs must have forgotten how a 1 year + toddler looks like :P :P Maybe will keep until she is 5 or 6 years old :P
During midnight and Angel was still awake so we brought her to see the neighbours burning fireworks. She was amazed by the nice fireworks under the starry sky but I forget to get her some to play with. I will try to make up to her soon I hope :)
1st Day of CNY
Gong XI Fa Chai!!!! We were spending the day at my brother’s place along with my parents who come over for CNY. After the ang pow giving sessions, then we started the mahjong session. So basically it’s eating and sleeping and mahjong session for the entire day. Angel gets to taste her first taste of Kuih Bahulu and also 我来*也 Bak-Kuah for the very first time! She even ate our adults’ dishes for lunch and dinner which is so yummy! Then I sent hubby off to the airport and come back home around midnight. So tired!

1+1 = 2 Coconut Trees
Angel’s hair is getting longer now and I can start ‘planting’ the 2 Coconut Trees instead of the lonely 1 Coconut Tree like before :) :) It is so much fun seeing my little girl jumping and running around with that funny hair of hers ……. It’s so good to be young coz you will look great in any hairstyle basically. If I were to tie ‘this’ hair when I go out, I think someone might get a heart attack along the street although it’s not a crime for ‘expressing’ yourself and ‘decorating’ your own hair as you like nowadays, isn’t it? No la …. I am not going to do that for sure, don’t worry :P :P After I am done with the hair, I let Angel have a look at her new hairstyle that mommy has just tied for her and I think she doesn’t recognised herself in the mirror and actually smiling to herself thinking that another ‘beebee’ (that’s how she address another baby) is standing in front of her :) Of course the coconut tree has a short life as usual before she pulls them down but I am not going to give up that easily. I hope someday I’ll be able to bring her out shopping with those cute Coconut Trees so that I won’t get another compliment of “Wah ….. Handsome Boy oh” despite she is already wearing as pink as a baby girl could @~@

A Hairstyle of Love
At last after a long wait, her hair is long enough and I manage to bribe her (with lots of bb biscuit of course) before I manage to tie an ugly rubber band on her hair. I used to have my hair tided up that way too when I was much younger and I used to call them “coconut tree” on my head :) My granny used to tide them for me everyday. Seeing that now my girl is having the same hairstyle as mine really makes me so happy.
This special hair style does have certain sentimental values in my life and I am so happy that my Angel looks cute in it (although it looks tiny bit AH-LIAN to me, hehehe.)
